This Privacy Policy explains how the Odisha Service Rules (OSR) mobile application ("OSR", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") accesses, collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the app.

OSR is an independent reference and utility application built to help Odisha Government employees access service rules, circulars, and related calculators. OSR is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official application of the Government of Odisha, the Government of India, or any government entity, and does not facilitate any government services.

By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Who We Are (Developer & Contact)

This app is developed and published by Monalisa, the developer of Odisha Service Rules (OSR). For any privacy-related questions, requests, or concerns, you can contact us at:

2. Source of Information

The government information presented in this app is compiled from the publicly available official Government of Odisha and Government of India web portals listed below. This app does not generate or originate any government rules. For any official or legal purpose, the original notifications, gazette publications, and circulars published on these official portals shall prevail, and users should verify all information against them:

3. Information We Collect

We collect only the limited information needed to operate the app.

a) Account information (via Google Sign-In)

When you sign in, we use Google Sign-In. Through this, we receive basic profile information associated with your Google account, specifically your name and email address, used to create and identify your account.

b) Profile and app data (stored by us)

• Your name
• A unique referral code generated for you, and the referral code of the person who referred you (if any)
• Your OSR Coins balance and a record of coin transactions (sign-up bonus, purchases, ad rewards, referrals, and deductions for AI questions)
• Planner entries you create yourself (reminders, notes, meetings, to-dos and their dates/times)
• A record of rewarded ads you have watched (used to apply daily limits)

We do not collect your phone number, contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera data.

c) Questions you ask the AI Assistant

When you use the AI Rule Assistant, the text of your question is sent to our secure server and to Google's Gemini AI service to generate an answer.

We also store ("log") the text of your questions on our secure server, together with related technical details such as the date and time, whether an answer was found, and the amount of AI processing used (token counts). We use these stored questions to operate the app, monitor usage and costs, detect and prevent abuse, and improve answer quality and identify gaps in our document library. These questions are linked to your account, but we do not use their content to build a personal profile about you, and we do not sell them. You can have your stored questions deleted as described in Section 9 ("How to Delete Your Account and Data").

d) Advertising information (via Google AdMob)

The app shows rewarded video ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads and prevent fraud, Google AdMob may collect certain information, including your device's Advertising ID and related device/usage information, in accordance with Google's own policies. This is handled by Google AdMob, not by us directly.

e) Purchase information (via Google Play)

When you buy OSR Coins, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation that a purchase was completed so we can add coins to your account. We do not receive or store your card numbers, bank details, or other payment credentials — these are handled entirely by Google Play.

f) Technical and diagnostic information

Basic technical information (such as app errors or crashes) may be processed to keep the app working reliably.

4. How We Use Your Information

• Create and manage your account and sign you in
• Provide the app's features (AI answers, PDF downloads, calculators, planner)
• Operate the OSR Coins system (balance, purchases, ad rewards, referrals, deductions)
• Apply fair-use limits (such as daily ad-reward caps) and prevent abuse or fraud
• Show rewarded advertisements (through Google AdMob)
• Process your purchases (through Google Play)
• Respond to your questions and support requests
• Analyse the questions asked (including in aggregate) to improve answer quality, find gaps in our rule database, and monitor AI usage and costs
• Maintain, improve, and secure the app

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

5. How Your Information Is Shared

We share information only as needed to run the app, with the following service providers:

• Google Sign-In / Google — for authentication (sign-in).
• Supabase — our secure backend and database provider, which stores your account, coins, transactions, planner data, and your stored AI questions on our behalf.
• Google Gemini (Generative AI) — receives the text of your AI questions to generate answers.
• Google AdMob — to display rewarded advertisements and collect ad-related device information as described above.
• Google Play Billing — to process in-app purchases.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the app. We do not sell personal or sensitive user data to third parties.

6. Permissions the App Uses

• Internet access — required to connect to servers, fetch answers, and download documents.
• Advertising ID — used by Google AdMob to show rewarded ads.

The app does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files, or phone state.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using modern encryption (HTTPS). Access to your data is restricted through database security rules so that you can only access your own account information. Sensitive operations (such as adding coins) are handled only on our secure server. While we work hard to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We keep your account information and related data (profile, coins, transactions, planner entries, and your stored AI questions) for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the personal data associated with it, except where we are required to retain certain limited records for legitimate reasons such as fraud prevention, security, or to comply with the law.

9. How to Delete Your Account and Data

You have the right to request deletion of your account and the personal data associated with it. You can request this in either of these ways:

• From within the app — by using the account deletion option available in the app, or
• By email — send a request to odishaservicerules@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account.

When we delete your account, we delete the associated personal data (your profile, coin balance, transactions, planner entries, and stored AI questions), subject to the limited exceptions described in the Data Retention section. We may retain AI question text in an anonymised form that is no longer linked to you, solely to improve the app. Account deletion is permanent and any remaining coins will be forfeited.

10. Children's Privacy

OSR is intended for adult Odisha Government employees and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. Third-Party Services

The app relies on third-party services (Google Sign-In, Google Gemini, Google AdMob, Google Play, and Supabase). Your use of these services is also governed by their own privacy policies:

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes may also be communicated within the app. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
